This is a tutorial explaining the use of Menu Extras and how to customize them.

With Mac OS X on the top right we have what we refer to as ‘Menu Extras’. Such as below.

To Rearrange these icons we can simply hold down Command (cmd) on our keyboard while clicking one of the icons to be able to move it. You can also get rid of Menu Extras by dragging it off the main menu bar and dropping it below.

The directory where the Menu Extras are kept for Mac OS applications is:

Main HD/System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/

To start up any of them just double click and will run up. Remember not all of these Menu Extras will be enabled and therefor work.
